I remember Dave when I was a kid on Hawley street in Quincy. He lived down the street from us and was friends with my mom . He was a very kind and caring person and was good at calming a bad situation down . I always will remember the kind words and the caring as an officer and a friend to our community he always gave. Denny and I both knew and grew up with Dave thru school. He was always funny, laughing and being a good guy. He had said he was looking forward to our class reunion. He will be missed by many. Thank you Dave for sharing your life with us.

I had the opportunity and honor to work with Dave at the Quincy Police Department for several months before he left to attend the MSP Recruit School in 1978. Dave had a great sense of humor and loved his pranks. He was a dedicated public servant. My condolences to Dave’s family and friends.

Story shared: Recruit School Memory

David and I were roommates in the Michigan State Police Academy in 1978. One morning preparing for inspection Dave was smoking a cigarette as the elevator doors opened and inspectors entered onto our floor. Dave stubbed his half smoked cigarette into an oily gun rag he had been using and stuffed it in a drawer. When smoke started to billow from our room he ran back in, grabbed the smoldering rag and rushed to the bathroom to flush the smoky stinking mess. He made it back to the room stood at attention in time for our demerit free inspection. Dave was a great roommate and helped his fellow recruits survive a very stressful time. His sense of humor and dedication to his partners and friends will be missed.

My sympathies and prayers are with his family.

I trooped with David in Flat Rock. He was a fine, fun loving young man, always smiling. I will never forget his love for fishing. God Bless all his family and friends. We have truly lost a fine gentleman. Please see John 14:27. Robert and Brenda Taylor

We went from grade school through high school together. I remember a funny caring person all those years.

He will be missed.
