Susan was such a fun loving woman. My fondest memories were shopping trips to chicago when the hospital used to take them in November. We laughed so hard on our return trip that our stomachs would hurt the next day !!! I'm sure she is spreading JOY in heaven everyday !!!

The whole Johnson family was blessed to meet Susan for the first time at Gary and Susan's wedding- an event we all talk about to this day! What a blast that was- the one and only time our whole family ever got out on the floor and line danced! Susan was one of the nicest and most genuine people you could ever meet. When you spoke with her, she tuned the rest of the world out, and listened with complete interest and care. What a rare person. The world sparkles a bit less without her! So many memories from years of learning to grow up. This is just a mish-mash of memories. . . Bonnie and Sue sat in the special "up-front" table in Mr. Rittenhouse's social studies class in 7th & 8th grade. Miss Linn taught Sue gymnastics and she loved the Balance Beam. She even did a routine to Hey Jude in the Follies. She and I caught the same "bronchitis bug" and slept under a sheet tent, sipping Robitussin and Vicks 44. We rushed home from induction into the National Honor Society to watch Chad Everett in Medical Center. (He was the love of our lives at that point.) Our usual group had caroling parties for Christmas. She and Alice got identical shirts at a birthday sleep over one summer. One morning in our pre-school visits in the study hall she was so excited to tell us that in the Miss America pageant one girl worn a "blue" dress, because they had just gotten their first color TV. She drove in to town every Sunday and we would go to the Congregational Church together. Her first date was the Sno-ball.

For almost 22 years, that's what we've been, side by side. We've been through it all - births, first days of school, first dates, dances, graduations, weddings, family & friend's deaths, we've shared it all. I respected her so much for her outlook on life, and for all of the help and understanding (no matter how frustrating) she was willing to give when I could not figure out things on my computer, or just to help me problem solve. She made every day brighter with her laugh and twinkling eyes. She truly loved life, her whole family, and absolutely adored her cowboy! A wonderful woman who I will greatly miss. Rest In Peace my dear friend - until we meet again.....

When I was in highschool, Faith and her mom asked me to come camping with them and walk the Mackinaw bridge over the Labor Day weekend. It was the first time I had ever been to the big bridge. It rained a lot and even though we were in tents we had such a great time! I remember walking the bridge and looking over the edge and Susie grabbed as if she was to push me...scared the daylights out of me, but we had such a good laugh. A great fun memory. I miss those times of no worries, spending the night with Faith, enjoying her mom's stories and her infectious laugh. What a great lady. She will be missed.

On the NYC trip a couple years ago, we were riding on the subway and I told her I was missing my mom she proceeded to kiss me on the forehead and say I can be your mama on the trip. She became my mama Norris for a long time after. She was alway willing to teach me how to make a new craft, being patient and fixing my mistakes. I went and visited her in the office everyday and always looked forward to seein her smile. When I found out I was pregnant she called me over to the desk and gave me and hug and told me she knew I would make a wonderful mother. She always knew just what to say when I needed it most. She will be greatly missed.

I was able to get to know Susan a little bit while working at the high school for a few years. You would walk into her office and her smiling face was your greeting no matter if you were just passing through, or stopping by for a quick question or chat. I then was able to work with her a few times at the Jr. High basketball games, and she would again greet you with that infectious smile and the night would always be a great one. I love how each time when she had the chance, she would show me a new project she would be working on, she would smile with each word as she described the detail of what she was working on :) Her face would light up even brighter any time she talked of her family, I just feel so blessed to have been in her presence and her absolute kindness. I can't say enough for only knowing her the short time I knew her, she was such a blessing, and she will be dearly missed.

Working the Jr. High concession stand will never be the same. Susan's sense of smell led her to the concession stand within minutes of the first batch of popcorn. Shortly after Susan bought her popcorn she would return stating that there was a hole in the bag. Surprisingly, every bag she ever got had a hole. We'd laugh as she always threw the students helping in the concession stand for a loop as they didn't quite get it right away. She loved the popcorn at the concession stand. I hope it's just as salty for her in Heaven.

I met Susan in the winter of 2002 as she worked many Chicago Street School gym seventh and eighth grade games. I was the principal of Chicago Street School. She was faithfull there and also at the high school in the work she did. She was always spoken highly of by anyone I met. Even today in a meeting the educators realized how horribly she will be missed from the Bronson Community Schools. We have a new computer system for student information in our school district. I have been so frustrated with it and I was asking for help. Mr. Modert organized two hours of in-house help at the highschool one morning. Susan was there. I went to the meeting thinking who can help. You guessed it, Susan had taken the time to go the "extra mile" and learn things for us. She openly showed us how to do many new things. I was looking forward to our next meeting in January for a review. I hope and pray the family will find comfort in trusting in life eternal and some day we shall meet again.

I have many memories of Susan growing up, but especially remember her dancing at the Stampede. She loved the people, the dancing, and just having fun. I am deeply sorry for the loss of Susan Norris. The staff, students and community of Bronson have lost a special friend. I had the pleasure to work with Susan while coaching girls track at BHS. She was so helpful to not only me but all the coaches. Her smile and laugh were indeed infectious. May the family find comfort and peace knowing that she was a gift to so many here on earth. I am so sad that Susie's time here has passed. She and I became friends back in the 5th or 6th grade. I remember an overnight at her house and how much fun we had. Her mom made some yummy pudding for dessert! I lived away for 28 years after we graduated but when I would visit she always welcomed me as a friend. Her smile and joy was contagious. I have been struggling the past couple of days, thinking of my family and friends and their/our loss of Susan. My memories of "Susie" could fill a book, her love of life, love of family, love of children, her smile, her artsy fartsy talents, playing charades, The Halloween Party with bonfires, and laughing. Always laughing, her laugh and smile that made her eyes sparkle, her contagious laugh, and the times with my father with peppermint schnapps and blueberry cheesecake. These are just a few things that keep drifting into my mind. Susan was my friend first, and then my family, she was "Aunt Susie" and words can only scratch the surface of what she meant to us. I will miss her greatly, but I think you could say that Susan made a difference to many people by just being a part of their lives. I know I am proud to call her family, and friend. I think she and my dad must be sharing a nip of schnapps right now, and when we meet again she will give me one of her famous hugs and tell me one of her jokes.

I've known Sue since 1963 and have fond memories of our "secret" club--the only members were Sue & I, hoping that the school bus couldn't make it down Webb Road and the fun times we all had when we were neighbors. I first met Susan roughly 20 years ago at the Stampede. She is truly an amazing and beautiful woman. She never met a stranger and blessed every single person she'd ever come in contact with. She is one of God's angels and I am forever blessed to have known her for so many years and to have shared so many wonderful memories with her dancing, laughing, and enjoying life. She is a true teacher of what it means to love one another unconditionally and to truly enjoy and love life. She always had a smile and a hug to share.
